Scotland Trip 2008
Marching in at the Dundonald Games, in beautiful
Dundonald.  (It had been raining all morning and
stopped just before our turn to compete.)
Taking the field at the Perth Highland Games held at the Perth
Racetrack - a beautiful location.
Our resourceful drum corp, warming up.
Finishing our performance at the World
Championship Pipe Band Competition in Glasgow.
Sierra
Highlanders
gathered in
front of the
Nelson
Monument
on Glasgow
Green.
Big screen
TVs were
provided to
allow
everyone to
watch the
Grade One
bands
compete
and perform.
After Dundonald Games
These are John's ghillies after the Dundonald Games!  After
everyone tromping all around the rain soaked field, their
beautiful park practically became a mud pit.
Airthrey Castle on the grounds of
Stirling University, where we stayed.
(Not in the castle, but in dorm rooms!)
Our block of flats - we had the whole
first floor (4 flats with 7 rooms each).
It's a terrific way for a group to travel.
Assembling for massed bands in Perth.
Searching for and finding roots in
Archterarder old Church graveyard.
They were looking for Burch's great
great grandmother.
Matt & Dan Ruben - very wet in
Dundonald!  See the castle ruins in the
background?
A wee drummer!  They start them young in Scotland - this was where
the bands gathered to rest and rehearse at the World Championships
in Glasgow.
Even the stones are beautiful in Scotland!
Stirling Castle
Our own Scottish Fan Club!
Bill Thomson, Bert Cunningham, Richard the Pipe
Band Mule, Faye Cunningham and Anna Thomson.
Look! They're even wearing their Nevada T-shirts!
We will try to add another page
of Scotland photos, soon.
Check back!
